Our teeth age, right along with the rest of us. They can become stained by the foods we eat, and even some medications we take. However, modern dentistry has introduced several safe and effective methods to make your smile whiter and younger looking.
The Tray-based teeth whitening system includes whitening trays that are custom fit in our office. The treatment can take two weeks to four weeks to complete. Patients place the whitening solution into the mouthguards and wear the appliances as directed.
We also offer Professional Strength Crest White Strips, which are stronger than the whitening strips you buy at the drug store. For patients who don’t like the idea of wearing an appliance while they sleep, these strips are an effective option.
Our office treatment option is the ZOOM2! Whitening System. Zoom2! is a bleaching process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin. The complete procedure takes about 90 minutes. First we apply the light-activated gel to your teeth. The primary ingredient in the Zoom2! whitening gel is hydrogen peroxide. As the hydrogen peroxide is broken down by the light, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, bleaching colored substances while the structure of the tooth is unchanged. A study has shown that use of the Zoom2! lamp increases the effectiveness of the Zoom2! gel by 26 percent or more, giving an average improvement of up to eight shades.
